New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week that just wrapped up on February 14. Designers from all over Manhattan and Brooklyn brought some serious style to the table, giving us fresh takes on classic looks. And boy, was there a lot to love!
Peter Do’s Cool Twist
Kicking things off at the Williamsburgh Savings Bank, Peter Do took us on a journey with his Helmut Lang collection. He played around with the idea of “protective” fashion, sending out models rocking silk bubble wrap trousers and knit balaclavas paired with sharp suiting. Plus, there were weathered denim and cozy puffer jackets to complete the look.
Thom Browne’s Gothic Romance
Later on, Thom Browne made a grand return to the Fashion Week scene. He closed out the show with a bang on Valentine’s Day, even bringing a touch of romance by offering a heart-shaped box of chocolates to his partner, Andrew Bolton. But don’t let the sweet gesture fool you – Browne’s collection was inspired by Gothic horror and Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.” Models strutted down the runway like a flock of ravens, with the backdrop resembling a snowy field. The collection played with traditional tailoring, mixing in grungy vibes with formal wear and floral touches.
Playing with Silhouettes
Many designers got creative with silhouettes this season. Collina Strada brought a femme vibe to sports uniforms, featuring lace-trimmed boxing shorts and jackets with beefed-up silhouettes.
Classic American Style
Tommy Hilfiger made a splash with their return to the runway, serving up fresh takes on prep classics from the ’90s. Think boxy tweed coats, varsity jackets, and cozy cashmere dresses. Meanwhile, Willy Chavarria brought his own spin to American power dressing, with structured coats, exaggerated shoulders, and Chicano-inspired flair. His collection was a nod to Mexican tailoring from the 1930s to ’80s Calvin Klein vibes.
The Big Picture
Overall, New York Fashion Week was a whirlwind of creativity and style. From reimagined classics to bold new visions, the designers brought their A-game to the runway, leaving us fashion enthusiasts hungry for more. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next season!
